Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso
On November 26th 2011 the Trinity was complete when Sebastian Ingrosso of Swedish House Mafia fame and his protegé Alesso took over the mainroom inside The Guvernment Entertainment Complex. Digi10ve recently hooked up with Steve Aoki, the man behind DIM MAK RECORDS. Aoki has been credited with launching the careers of some of the most influential acts of the last decade including Bloc Party, The Kills, Klaxons, MSTRKRFT, The Bloody Beetroots, Mystery Jets, The Rakes, The Gossip and more.
Concert Review | Black Star at the Kool Haus
13 years after the release of their iconic Blackstar album, Talib Kweli and Mos Def set out on an unexpected and long awaited tour that brought them to the Kool Haus in Toronto this Saturday with the aim of reviving the sound that made them huge in ‘98 and to drum up some support for their new projects. Although they waited until midnight to grace the stage, hometown DJ’s Wrispect and Faze kept the energy level as high as they could for three hours by mixing up some old-school jams while Sir Lancelot unsuccessfully tried to hype the crowd.
Benny Benassi “Close to Me” featuring Gary Go
Debuted today on Rolling Stone Magazine, is the brand new video for “Close to Me” from Benny Benassi. the video features vocalist Gary Go, and was filmed in one weekend in four different locations – HERE at The Guvernment for Labour of Love, the Electric Zoo festival in New York, the North Coast Festival in Chicago, the Marquee in Las Vegas.
Guvernment turns 15
On October 9th 2011, we celebrated our 15th year anniversary! To help us ring in this monumental occasion we brought some of our friends to handle the music. Armin Van Burren, Steve Angelo, Max Vangeli, AN21, Jochen Miller and many more handled the 1′s & 2′s making for one of the most memorable birthdays ever! It was such a ruckus party that the hashtag #GUV15 was trending across the world on twitter, and even had DJ’s who weren’t at the party tweeting birthday wishes.
Labour of Love
On Labour Day Weekend, September 3 and 4 2011 we hosted Toronto’s first 2 day EDM music Festival.
Known on the street as LoL, The Guvernment/Kool Haus Entertainment complex plays host to what was without a doubt the EDM event of the year, featuring some of the Worlds BEST DJ’s including Laidback Luke, Paul Van Dyk, Dirty South, Gareth Emery, Hardwell, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, Congorock, and a TON more.
Diesel presents: ONExONE
w/ Lupe Fiasco, Kardinal Offishall, & Melanie Fiona at The Guvernment
Lupe Fiasco headlined the Diesel presents: ONExONE benefit concert in Toronto, along side Melanie Fiona and Kardinal Offishal. The concert started with two-time Grammy nominated Melanie Fiona, capturing the audiences attention with her beautiful vocals, and really did get the crowd going. Up next was hometown hero Kardinal, who reminded everyone just how cool Toronto is, in case you had forgotten. Kardinal shared the stage with long time friend, rapper and producer Solitair, with the occasional pop-ins by songstress Jully Black. Kardinal’s set was a high-energy affair, which got the audience ramped up as he ripped through his anthem-esque songs.
